need docs on remastering and making-module

Postby jb102 » Wed Aug 12, 2009 6:07 am

Hello,

I am looking for a pmagic doc which can show how can we remaster pmagic usb. There are already a lot of tools included in pmagic. I like to remove some multimedia stuff and make a small pmagic with only system related utilities. Also how to make a module for pmagic is very interesting as I can then add some modules which are not there. Is the any docs for doing these ?

thanks

Thanks for the link. One issue solved.

It describes how to add module. What about if I like to uninstall some packages and make the core smaller ? My intention is to play with "pmagic.sqfs" :-) If I am not wrong it is squashfs. Please give me some info so that I'll be able to tweak that sqfs.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I want to know, where I can find documentation for remove some included programs, like xchat and others, to make a "PartedMagic Lite" version without net/Internet support.

Thanks!

Module-making documentation needs updating. 7za has been replaced by xz if I'm not mistaken.

Hello all.
I'm a noob with Parted Magic. I really interested with this OS.
It's so small.
If possible I really wanna remaster this OS. I wanna know how it's work,
how to add or remove the default app. that already include in this OS.
I really wanna to make my on version of Parted Magic if Possible.
I'm so excited when I first time use this OS.
Is there anyone know, where I could get the complete documentation
of this Operating System :D
Thanks.....
NB: Sorry about my poor English.

Dear mardangga,
PartedMagic works like any other Linux "live" distribution.
There are several good articles on the internet on what happens when Linux starts. Once you have gathered the knowledge in there come back to PartedMagic and unpack the initramfs *) and have a look at "init". Once you understand that have a look at rcS. And once you have that start thinking about modifying the sqfs *).
Kind regards, Dick

And maybe, I should install Linux on my notebook too....
